Investment Minister: Jordan Advances Positively on Its Economic and Investment Modernization Path
Investment Minister Tarek Abu Ghazaleh affirmed on Wednesday that the government has adopted a policy to encourage local investment alliances in projects, based on the principle that no government investment project will be offered without local participation of at least 30%, given its importance to the growth of the Jordanian economy.
During Prime Minister Jafar Hassan’s visit to the Ministry of Investment, the Investment Council discussed the status of investment opportunities and projects, investment incentives, preparations to host the Jordan–European Investment Conference, and the opportunities it will provide across various sectors. The meeting also addressed updates to legislation governing the investment environment.
Minister Tarek Abu Ghazaleh presented the projects currently being implemented under the Economic Modernization Vision, as well as ways to enhance services provided to investors and advance the digital transformation of business.
He highlighted the legislation that has been updated as part of the government’s efforts to develop the investment environment, most notably the recently issued amendments to the Investment Environment Regulation. The amendments aim to enhance the stability of economic policies, strengthen confidence in the business environment, improve the efficiency of investment services, accelerate procedures, reduce the time required to issue licenses and approvals, and support the digital economy and creative industries, among other benefits.
He also noted that the Ministry continues to work on preparing the Investment Funds Law for 2026, with the aim of establishing a unified and comprehensive legislative framework governing various types of investment funds. The law is intended to enhance the attractiveness of Jordan’s investment environment, attract regional and international funds, support the capital market and asset management, and provide modern financing and investment instruments. He noted that the studies, legislative analysis, legislative options, and comparative study have been completed.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mohannad Shehadeh; the Ministers of Planning and International Cooperation, Finance, and Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan; and private-sector representatives serving on the Investment Council.
During the visit, Hassan said that Jordan faces promising opportunities that outweigh the challenges it has traditionally encountered, adding that the country will confront and overcome these challenges under its wise Hashemite leadership.
